And guess what?! It was something I looked FORWARD to each morning! I seriously loved this new habit so much, that I decided to keep doing yoga in the mornings when I wake up and then do my regular workout later in the day. I wanted to be mindful…I wanted to lose myself in prayer and peace before the day began…and most importantly, I wanted to set positive intentions for myself each morning. Typically I’m not a “morning workout” kind of gal, but with this program I got out of bed every morning and completed it before I started anything else. The other thing I loved about this program was that it was no longer than 30 minutes of my day. A learned foundation and the opportunity to expand upon that. The program doesn’t involve chanting or anything like that. It’s also designed for people who wish to complement their current routine by improving their flexibility and core strength. It’s also designed for people who aren’t confident enough to go into a yoga studio just yet because they lack the base level information.

It is designed for anyone who is intimated by yoga and thinks they aren’t “flexible enough” to practice it. 3 Week Yoga Retreat was designed for beginners who want to try yoga, but don’t have a foundation. What a freeing feeling, my friends! And I know some of you have been following my journey, so I wanted to wrap up my week 3 recap with a little bit of information on what this program is all about. Things that kept me from being the best version of me. I was able to let go of a lot of things that I had been holding inside…things that did not serve me any longer. Letting all of the tension just melt away as I exhaled.

Simply honoring myself and all that I am. I had a chance to breathe and just “be” for at least 30 minutes per day. I simply FEEL like a better Brittany as I stand here 3 weeks later. I lost ~6 pounds in 21 days and improved my energy, mood, and flexibility. So, for three weeks I stuck to a program called “3 Week Yoga Retreat” and saw incredible changes in my body. I was hungry for a break from my “normal” routine. I like to walk in my clients’ shoes every now and again because quite frankly, I’m not at the beginning of my journey and as a human I can TOTALLY forget what it’s like to be sore for the first time or feel hungry and deprived when shifting your diet around. Sometimes along our health and fitness journey we find ourselves needing to understand what it’s like to be back at square one.

When I was asked “why” I would do such a thing (get strict with my food intake, cut out all alcohol, coffee, refined sugars, and processed junk + only do yoga everyday), I simply just responded that “I needed to…it was time.” I needed to do something for me…to get out of my comfort zone, but also to love on myself a little bit. Before on the LEFT and TODAY on the RIGHT!!! For the last three weeks I decided to challenge myself in this regard. We can practice behaviors that allow us to speak words of encouragement and kindness into our souls. We don’t have to beat ourselves up and listen to that negative voice stir within. But the best news of all is that we have the power to change that. I think we all are…would you agree? I mean, don’t get me wrong, there are battles we face with our jobs, our coworkers, our families, friends, and especially fellow sharers of the road…but I think the biggest enemy often times lives within.
